Lagos Needs More Partnership To Help the Vulnerable – Commissioner
Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende has said that the state government needs more partnership to help the vulnerable in the society.
He said this while receiving donated items (23 bunk beds, 46 mattresses and 25 pillows) by Mary Dinah Foundation to the Ketu Special Children Centre, Birrell Road, Yaba.
“The task of helping the vulnerable in our society is so enormous that the government cannot accomplish it all alone. It needs the support of individuals as well as organisations that believe that all of us are the ultimate beneficiaries at the end of the day, “he said.
Mr. Ogunlende implored everyone who has the ability and capacity to contribute their quota towards the expansion of the social protection net because it will eventually create a favourable environment for everyone to thrive.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, MYSD, Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu highlighted the avowed commitment of the Ministry to Social Inclusion as captured in the THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
Her words, “The Lagos State Government, under the visionary leadership of Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, remains committed to creating an inclusive society where every child, regardless of their challenges, is allowed to thrive. This initiative by the Mary Dinah Foundation aligns perfectly with our mission to support vulnerable children and provide them with the care and resources they need.”
Pharm (Mrs.) Oke-Osanyintolu further encouraged well-meaning individuals, corporate organisations and NGOs to emulate the laudable gesture by the Mary Dinah Foundation towards social development as a collective effort to build a better society where no child is left behind.
On her part, CEO of Mary Dinah Foundation, Mary Dinah, appreciated the Ministry for the collaboration to support the vulnerable in the state, adding that the foundation would also assist in other areas like education, accommodation and feeding.
