Health District Iv Begins Comprehensive Fumigation Exercise Across All Phcs

In a proactive move to enhance public health and safety, the Lagos State Health District IV has embarked on a comprehensive Fumigation exercise targeting all Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) within its jurisdiction. 

Speaking on the initiative, the Permanent Secretary of the District, Dr. Abimbola Bowale said the exercise, which will be spearheaded by the Directorate of Environmental Health Services, aims to create a healthier environment for patients and healthcare workers by eliminating pests and reducing the risk of disease transmission.

He explained that the fumigation exercise would cover all the PHCs in all the Local Government Areas (LGA) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) including Apapa, Surulere, Lagos Mainland and Lagos Island under its purview.

Noting that the fumigation is part of a broader strategy to improve health services in every community, focusing on infection prevention and control, Dr. Adebowale reiterated the District’s commitment to providing safe and effective healthcare solutions.

“The exercise aligns with the Lagos state government’s broader initiatives, which include upgrading primary healthcare facilities and enhancing community health services. Hence, the importance of environmental health in maintaining a robust healthcare system in Lagos”, the Permanent Secretary stated.
