Gov. Soludo @ 65: Foundation Commends Soludo For Visiting Prisoners

A heartfelt commendation has gone to His Excellency, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his recent visit to correctional center to mark his 65th birthday anniversary.

In a statement signed by Prince Nonso Henry Nwaebili Esq Founder, Nonso Nwaebili Foundation, the foundation noted that the gesture by Gov. Soludo is a shared burden and a common calling.

Nwaebili who is senior legislative aide to Speaker House of Reps and also Principal Partner, Di-street Law Chambers & Consultancy which has been at the forefront of provision of pro bono legal services for correctional services inmates in the past disclosed that “though I stand on a different political platform, humanity remains our common ground and on this matter.

“I speak not as a politician but as a servant of a cause that transcends parties and affiliations. Your presence within those prison walls resonated with many including myself not only because of the symbolic weight it carried, but because it spoke to a truth many overlook: that there are souls within those confines whose redemption and restoration lie within our collective will.

“Your Excellency, I write to commend your recent visit to the correctional facility as part of the celebration of your 65th birthday not as a political actor, but as a human being deeply moved by the silent pain and forgotten stories behind bars.

“Prison visitation has never been just an act of charity for me; it is a calling. One I have felt deeply with every face I’ve seen behind bars, especially the innocent and circumstantially confined. My work through the Nonso Nwaebili Foundation , in collaboration with Di-Street Law Chambers and Consultancy (of which I am founder), is born of that same burden, the unshakable belief that those society has thrown away must not be left without hope.

“I was humbled to learn that my personal visits to the prison unpublicized, but deeply intentional may have inspired or aligned with your recent outreach. This is not only encouraging; it is catalytic. Your Excellency, your gesture has further fueled my drive to push forward with a long-nurtured dream: the Release, Rehabilitate, and Reintegrate Program (RRR), which we intend to formally launch this August.

“Through RRR, we aim to: Identify inmates eligible for release under the law, particularly those unfairly detained or deserving of clemency.
Rehabilitate : Provide psycho-social support, education, and skill-building programs to prepare them for life beyond prison.

Reintegrate : Assist former inmates in re-entering society with dignity and support, transforming them into ambassadors of change and living testaments of restoration”.

The statement noted that the initiative is not about empty gestures; it is about systemic compassion backed by law, structure, and unwavering human will.

“Thank you once again, Mr Governor for reminding us through your action that leadership is not only about power, but presence and sometimes, presence in the most neglected of places.

“May your steps continue to echo in the places that need reform, and may we all from every political hue rise to the higher calling of healing our society from its inside out”, the statement added.
